Trujillo, capital of the northern department of La Libertad, is also one of the well preserved colonial cities in Peru. Here, people practice the national dance called Marinera and you can eat high quality food. Just like in prehispanic times, fishermen leave their creeks and travel the sea in legendary boats or “caballitos de totora” (reed watercraft). People can visit the biggest clay city in the world, Chan Chan, Mochica Sun and Moon huacas, Señora de Cao museum in El Brujo complex, and Huanchaco beach, which is a classic beach in the endless spring city.
